expanding on this, I think polyphemus would actually be komari vosa. in canon, she was hurt and Fell because of galidraan, and dooku puts a bounty on her to chooses a template for the clones. she is a major turning point in jango's life and I feel like she should be that here as well.

I also think maybe polites should be silas (I don't have a solid idea of silas' character, correct me if this is super ooc).

basically:

jangobi meet and fall in love before jaster's death (maybe due to jaster meeting with the jedi to possibly form an alliance)

jaster dies, the alliance fails, but jangobi stay together. though, they are now mostly focused on studies (obi-wan) and leading (jango). they at some point get married (maybe on a joint mission that mace Definitely Didn't Set Up As A Date (he did, obi-wan was getting lonely due to boyfriend withdrawals))

galidraan (troy) happens, myles dies to the jedi there. jango does kill 6 of them bare-handed (like in canon), but he feels at least a tiny bit guilty because those are his husband's people (and maybe he keeps having nightmares that one of those dead jedi is his husband)

jango starts trying to make his way back to his husband with kal (eurylochus), silas (polites), and whoever else you decide managed to survive that. silas is trying to keep jango's spirits up despite the fact he just lost his best friend and a majority of their people.

first, he's faced with komari (polyphemus) he manages to trick and defeat her. this is where silas dies, of course.

dooku confronts him, asks him to take a job. kal urges against it, jango almost agrees but changed at the last second. they flee, and land on sheeka tull's (circe's) island. sheeka gives him the advice to jump through the outer rim or something to get dooku off his tail (idk, I didn't major in how star wars travel works).

while doing that, they meet fay (tiresias) who does the whole "you won't make it home (but a more broken version of you will)" bit that tiresias does. she also, away from jango, calls obi-wan and gives him updates on his man's wherabouts.

we're skipping over the sirens and scylla unless one of y'all has any ideas.

dooku manages to redirect him (and the remains of his crew) directly to kamino (calypso's island) where they make a bunch of clones of him.

jaster's force ghost, who has up until now just been facepalming at jango's every decision, goes to check on obi-wan. he finds out about his new grandkid (anakin/telemachus). palpatine is the suitors, but he is going after anakin instead of obi-wan (he may also be going after obi-wan though, idk).

meanwhile, jango contemplates suicide on calypso's island, where he has unwillingly acquired however many of the clones you want to imagine being part of this (the more, the better).

I'm not completely sure who hermes is (maybe quinlan on an undercover mission?) but they manage to help him escape with the rest of his crew and all the clones (again. the more, the better).

I'll figure out everything else later, I honestly got farther into this than I thought I would before running out of ideas, but zeus/helios' cows have me stumped.

I was listening to epic earlier and I can't get a star wars epic au out of my brain

like, jango as odysseus, obi-wan as penelope, Anakin takes the role of telemachus, myles is polites, polyphemus I wanna say is like dooku or someone (maybe poseidon as palpatine), and athena is jaster/jaster's ghost (might be ooc, I haven't read anything he's from)

jango would be aged down or whatever, but him and obi-wan meet pre-galidraan

i just think jango and odysseus are similar types of tragic where they started off these kings with loyal crews and then disaster struck and they became corrupted and singleminded focused on one thing (odysseus getting back to his family and jango his son/legacy)

Me poking at my various AUs: yet another Ahsoka time-travel fic, this time Jango/Ahsoka/Quinlan

(One of these boys is the rocket launcher on her shoulder, and the other is the stiletto in her boot. Both of them are arm candy.)

Inspired by a plot point in Orphan Black, please consider:

Jango is a chimera (specifically of a pair of fraternal twins, one male and one female), and the Kaminoans just went with it to have a co-ed army because uhhhh why not, mostly.

Weird side-effect is that the clones don't actually look exactly like Jango. Like family, yes, but not Just Like Him.

I don't know where I'm going with this other than "Ahsoka's bisexual awakening" and "the first time a clone gets pregnant because the birth control failed, there are lawsuits from the non-clone parent." Custody stuff, I imagine.

If the non-clone parent wants their kid and has the money, but Kamino insists all products of their product belong to Kamino and/or the GAR, or try to pressure the clone to have an abortion because That's In The Contract or something...

If I wrote it up, it would probably involve a Senator as the other parent and trying to get the pregnant clone transferred to the Corrie Guard where it's "safe" except then the Corrie's keep bringing up their "we get killed by civilians regularly and it gets marked up as property damage, maybe have that addressed before your baby momma gets her ass beat" problem. IDK it would go somewhere dark.

Maybe better to focus on Ahsoka being painfully gay.

A friend asked if Boba would still be a "true" clone, and I don't think so. He'd be a clone of the XY cells, because the Kaminoan's can't actually safely replicate a chimera.

shes pretty obscure / legends only but i was curious how you felt about komari vosa

I thought the premise was an interesting one. A talented Jedi who became infatuated with her Master (Dooku) and thus was barred from the Trials altogether, leaving the Order in disgrace and shame. She turned to the Dark Side after torture by the Force-worshipping Bando Gora cult and ultimately rose as its High Priestess. When Sidious ordered her dispatched of, Dooku turned it into a kind of contest - the bounty hunter able to take out the power Force-wielder would become the template for the clone army. And yes, that being would be Jango Fett.

A lot of the beats in this story hit the right chord - a young Vosa falling for her urbane, older Master, which is not unheard of in these intense, one-on-one training relationships (ask me about music conservatory culture one day, oof). To Dooku’s credit, he wanted nothing to do with this (and I sincerely doubt he would even as a Sith - that’s just not his M.O., thank the Force). Her falling into a Force-worshipping cult, which is absolutely fantastic (and something I wish had been utilized in the Sequels). And then finally, Dooku’s inability to actually kill her directly, manipulating the situation into “The Box? Version 1.0 is 100% on-brand for his character. I actually don’t think he’s ever been able to take out a friend/Lineage member directly. He hired the Pykes to deal with Sifo-Diyas, bounty hunters for Komari, more or less left Ventress to die but never actually ensured her death, ditto for Savage, and never actually landed a killing blow in a situation with Obi-wan, even though he certainly had the upper hand in those encounters.

Now, it’s been a while since I’ve read those comics and to be perfectly honest, I am wholly in love with Rael Averross and his whole schtick so I’m willing to let go of Komari Vosa in exchange for Rael. That being said, it wasn’t a half-bad storyline.

So in the baby-wan AU (hilariously, it is tagged that, but that post has gotten too big to keep reblogging lmao) where Obi-Wan travels back to a 7 year old body with all the PTSD, the first time Jaster (his new Mando’buir) mentions that a little Mando’Jetii should have armor, Obi-Wan mentions that he wants bracers (they’ll have to be plated so he can flex his wrists) made of cortosis metal, and Fay agrees very sagely, informing the very confused Mandalorians that Jedi can’t wear much (if any) beskar because it messes with their connection to the force, but cotorsis is a metal that deactivates lightsabers on contact.

Jaster, who now knows that his newest son cannot use beskar and will never train with a lightsaber, decides then and there to hunt down enough cortosis for bracers and greaves and a small midsection wrap (meaning not quite plates, so much as criss crossing wraps of metal that’ll curve around his midsection with the hope that the cortosis would stop a saber and deactivate it in time not to be cut) and maybe a beskad too, so he can still have a weapon himself after a saber has been deactivated.

This unfortunately means that he will not be sparring against other Jedi unless they trade their sabers for a beskad, but a few of his friends will happily comply with that to get him some solid practice.

They also have a small flashback when Jaster asks why Obi doesn’t want a helmet and will refuse one if offered. Mainly, a flashback where he stutteringly tries to explain the mask Ventress put on him and what it did and why it was scary and that he was like that for over a month while people thought he was dead and she hurt his friend and- yeah. Jaster gets his first taste of Jedi PTSD and some of the most fucked up shit you can do to a living creature both in one go. He is horrified and now Obi-Wan is being plied with kisses and snacks by many verd’e.

Jango immediately teaches his baby brother his favorite bad words. He’s only 14 so he knows ALL the best words that’ll have Jaster yelling at them, but Jango is an adult now so Jaster isn’t as stern when telling him not to say them, which takes ALL the fun outta it, so he has to make sure the baby knows to tell Jaster all the cool new words he’s learned. It’s important.

While they’re on Mandalore, Obi-Wan gets fitted for his first armor (which are made of leather for extra protection before he’s old enough for metals) and Fay gently rebuffs the need for weaponry (the nice female Mandalorians fawn over her thinking she’s young till they realize she’s over 1200 at least and met Tarre a few times lmao, Fay is living for pretty woman fawning over her tho) but eventually accepts a baton of cortosis with the understanding that force suppressants exist and if she was suppressed, she still wants a way to turn off a saber. They’re a little shocked when she tells them she can turn off someone’s saber mid-battle with just the force, which shocks them because they thought Jedi had ways to keep that from happening. They do, she’s just stronger than that.

Fay keeps giggling when she tells the council they finally have another Mandalorian Jedi in the order again. They sigh really loud at that and tell her she better figure out their political situation so they can help get rid of the terrorists they said they had a group of now, so they can make the planet safer for Obi-Wan and any other kiddos that end up there. This, of course, is how Agricorps end up involved as they should, lmao.

I think my favorite part about Boba's daddy issues is the fact that they aren't your traditional flavor of daddy issues

Like

"Oh my dad never loved me" or abusive, or anything to that degree

Like on all accounts Jango loved him and did his best. Some of his methods are a little unorthodox but such is life when you're a war vet with PTSD that doesn't have a healthy coping mechanism besides having a son. No no no. Boba's daddy issues are that he simply is his father and he will never escape that shadow. (Well there's Din who just flat out doesn't know. But my point is there)

He is his father and he will never be the man his father was and isn't that the kicker. You know how Robert Irwin's life revolves around everybody and their mother feeling as though they need to include his father in the conversation whenever it pertains to him in the slightest?

Jango Fett was the blue print and Boba is simply his copy and I cannot imagine hearing about your dead father every time a fellow bounty hunter opened their mouth the second you stepped into a room. At least until Boba got fed up and pulled a blaster on the poor bastard and promptly shut him up for the moment.

And as fun as it is to imagine Jango in the aftermath shaking his head as his child inevitably falls down the very rabbit hole that got himself killed. But, that sentiment aside, I cannot imagine a moment Jango isn't proud of that boy and Boba simply cannot see that. Boba is in no way perfect and Jango was also the blue print for that, but Jango will be damned to feel ashamed of his kid for making the same mistakes under zero guidance. Jango's fucked up, and likewise his child is as well but that's his boy, his pride and joy.

And I don't think Boba's knows that. Most people didn't know his father. They knew Jango Fett the bounty hunter. They knew Jango Fett the Jedi killer. They knew a man, mostly ruthless, that hunted his prey with an expressionless face that waited until the right moment to strike.

And thats not to say that's all Jango was. But who was going to tell Boba that? That the man's hands were as gentle as they were calloused and that despite his dark unassuming eyes that dared one to speak against him, he was a family man at the end of the day and although all the family he had were long since dead he carried their remembrance with a guilt like no other and he loved his boy.

But a 10 year olds memory is a fickle thing. And when ones face is tilted towards the light it's so easy to be blinded by it.

Jango was never cruel, but his hands have left their stain no matter how many times he's washed them and when the only people left alive to speak your name are the hunters you gnashed teeth with and the child you left orphaned despite the promise that things would be different this time around it's too easy for the truth to fall between the cracks.

Because while Jaster would have beamed down at Boba with pride and Myles and Silas would have lifted that boy high above their heads and recounted tales upon tales of what trouble his father had dragged them along for, and Zam had brushed his fair back behind his ears and read him stories and left him books at his doorstep, Aurra Sing was not as kind.

And while she wretched alcohol away from too small hands she had just as easily belittled and abandoned him in the same breath. And while Hondo has described Jango as an honorable man, what good did that tell a boy who had been thrust into prison just a few hours later.

Because whether they'd told Boba his father was a too gentle bastard or a man that striked fear into the hearts of whoever heard his name, he was an unobtainable goal and Boba was a cheap imitation.

And while he rose against the ranks, and learned to strike fear into all who opposed him then learned to love above all else, there's not a soul alive to tell him that his father would be proud of the man he'd become.

And maybe at long last he can sleep at night, because what good is a dead man's approval anyway? But he will never know that at the end of the day, through the shadow and the haze of blurred vision Jango loved him above all else, everything else be damned.

Cursory research into the meanings of Mandalorian armour colours...

Black - ne'tra = justice, an unshakeable moral code (also wanting to avoid stains on your clothes)

White - cin vhetin = a fresh start or clean slate (good for converts/adult adoptions)

Grey - genet = mourning a loved one (or recently rejected)

Gold - ve'vut = vengeance (a warning colour)

Silver - shev'la beskar = unpainted armour, a search for redemption (Din Djarin's guilt complex, anyone?)

Bronze - tranyc'bes - nobility and high status (favoured by stuck-up self-important jackasses)

Brown - daryc - valour, galantry, The Audacity (particularly when associated with them cunty lil jedi cape drops)

Tan - vhekadla - loyalty (lit. 'sandy' but I don't like sand, it's coarse and rough and...)

Maroon - daryc'tal - power (all hail Maroon 5, our benevolent overlords)

Red - ge'tal = honouring a parent (very popular, 10/10)

Scarlet - galar'tal - defiance and relentlessness (Mandalorian Scarlett Johansson omfg be still my bi heart)

Orange - shereshoy = shereshoy, a lust for life (the party people)

Yellow - shi'yayc - remembrance, burnt out vengeance (makes for funky funerals)

Mint green - cin vorpan - lust for peace, guardians and peacekeepers (does not necessarily mean I want to fuck guardians and peacekeepers, get your head outta the gutter)

Green - vorpan = duty, commitment and hard work (favourite of farmers, too)

Teal - jahaal = healing, violence as a last resort, I've seen some shit and now I defend peace (favoured by healers and New Mandalorians)

Blue - kebiin = reliability and faithfulness (favoured by single parents)

Sky blue - kebii'tra = new love, newlyweds, marriage and all that fluffy stuff (Satine's famous jewellery TCW S2 - ObiTine for the soul)

Indigo - jiisaviin = prosperity, victory, the feeling that we have achieved our hopes (tempting fate, perhaps)

Lilac - saviin = luck, change, survival in adversity, hope for the future (associated with the old God of Luck)

Pink - cin ge'tal - respect and knowledge, a fusion of past and future (associated with journalists and academics)

Ofc this is a rough guide and if anyone either doesn't like my sense of humor or wants more detailed information, check out these posts too: x x x

A Companion Piece To My Baby Jango Concord Dawn Festival Garb Concept + Two Unfinished Bodie Taylor Alpha-class

A companion piece to my baby Jango Concord Dawn festival garb concept + two unfinished Bodie Taylor Alpha-class ARC trooper cadet sketches, a concept for Jaster’s stinky old farm strill (tentatively named Ijaat), a baby Jaster doodle, and an unfinished doodle of Jango while he was enslaved.

I wanted to design a ‘Mand’alor’ version of Baby Jango’s traditional face paint. The pattern on his nose represents mythosaur scales, the jaig eyes represent courage in the face of adversity, the green paint represents his duty to his people, the red paint honors Jaster/his birth family/ancestors & the past, and the white paint represents a new start and the future of his people, and the rest represents the face of a buy’ce.
