Rafa fans, meet Shohei...

My favorite athlete in the entire world- Rafa Nadal- is days away from retiring. To fellow Rafans, may I humbly suggest a new fandom to draw your attention towards...

My Rafa fandom runs deep- I have digested every morsel I could find about all things Rafa. Re-watched clips, matches, videos a 1000x. Scoured Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter for anything and everything Rafa. Lived for Fedal moments. A sadness had settled in for the last 2 years when I started realizing Rafa was probably nearing the end of his astonishing career.

Lo and behold, I've found a new fandom and would like to encourage anyone reading to dive into the world of Shohei Ohtani. I'll state my case: he is truly the GOAT of baseball and there is no competition. I used to think baseball was as dull as rain but with him, I changed my mind and now love the sport. It is exceptionally hard to be elite at anything and he's elite in 2 seemingly opposing skillsets: a pitcher and a hitter. Plus he's got a rare combination of power and speed (hello 50/50 club?) And to top it off, he is HUMBLE. He is a gentleman. He is all class. He is idolized by millions and photographed everywhere he goes, but he seems oblivious to the fame and pressure. He lacks an ounce of arrogance and entitlement that many "kings" of sports would display.

I welcome any and all to appreciate Shohei Ohtani. Just like Rafa, his kind will not be seen again.
