Hi. I want to make a suggestion: Their s/o goes completely missing. How does the mercs react?

If not all mercs, van I suggest Sniper, Soldier and Engineer?

TF2 Mercs reacting to s/o going missing - [platonic, romantic]

Mercenaries: (Sorry I didn't do all of them): Scout, Solider, Sniper, Spy and Engineer

Scout:

> Scout is the first one to notice your absence. He walks around the base looking for his bud but when unsuccessful his first thought will be "Ah, they probably went on a mission or something" and goes back to continue his activities

> When some time passes Scout starts to worry. Sure he could understand that some contracts are hard to finish but everyone were always back before day ends. And you are still not back.

> He can't stand it and decides to look around the base trying to find you. Unsuccessful after his research Scout is getting more worried

> I imagine him runing around from room to room, asking some guys about you only to hear that you still aren't back. Oh boy where are you?

> His reaction that you are missing next day fills him with worry. Why? How?! Where are they?! Why did they disappeared??

> First one to volunteer to look for you

> If you are his partner or if you have crush on each other be ready to be swarm with hugs and worried fast talk after this

> After you are found his first reaction is to put his arms around your shoulders and ask milion questions. Where were you, etc. Now he won't leave you for a whole week. "What? Noooo I wasn't worried about you, but don't disappear like that!" won't admit it but he missed you. A lot.

Solider:

> He won't see your absence at first, it will take some time for him to realize there was supposed to be 10 and not 9 people around

> He will shrug it off thinking you are just away

> He is going to find out you are missing only when someone points out your absence to him in person

> "SHALL KNOW NO FEAR MAGGOT!! MISSING WILL BE FOUND!!" He screams out loud, while running to the next room to look for you

> Alright.... it's been some time now. Where are you?... He is going to miss you buddy. He cares for his team, and is actually worried.

> When you are found he will lecture you how to not get kidnapped or lost again. That especially applies if you are his partner (you won't escape crushing night cuddles)

> Give him love, he missed you a lot, even if he doesn't show it

Sniper:

> He notices your absence after a while. Does it make him worry about you? Nope. He is going to come back to him van or practice his sniping skills not thinking about your disappearance too much. You all have a lot of work to do after all

> Hours will pass before he finnaly decides to look for you. Just to see where you are so he wouldn't have to think about it anymore

> When checking your most visited spots don't bring him any luck he'll ask some of teammembers about you.

> When it brings no luck he decides to look for you on his own. Come on.... where are you mate.

> After you are back safe and sound expect him to be not far away from you for.... three or more days, watching you from far away. Just to be sure you won't disappear without a word.

>If you are in relationship with him, he won't show any signs of beeing worried, but privately he'll give you a hug, or hold your hands close to his face

> He missed you... and he is glad you are back

Spy:

> He know you are missing before anyone does.

> He know his teammates well, from their activities to schedules and habits. He is a Spy after all, his job is to mimic people.

>When you are not doing something that according to his observation, you were supposed to do, he is going to look for you (invisible of course)

> Strange.... you are not here... not in your favourite spot... not around your favourite people. This.... is bad news.

> He lets everyone know you are missing, and is the first to volunteer to look for you

> Back at the base he isn't going to stick around you very long. Just long enough to know you are well. He is kind enough to make you a drink

> When you are that one special person close to him, know he is going to take you to his room to give you best treatment you have ever received in your entire life. He will ask questions, how, who, what, why's and all that. Be patient with him, he wants to know details.

> Kisses on cheeks and hands, to let you know he missed you

Engineer:

> He is a busy man, but he is observant one too and is going to notice you aren't around.

> Will ask around first instead of looking for you by himself. When answer won't satisfy him, this is when he'll look for you.

> Is the first one to rase the alarm to let everyone know you are missing

> Come on.... where are you?? It isn't like you to just be gone for so long...

> He is the one to find you and bring you back safely. Is the one to give you check up alongside Medic

> Expect him to ask you a lot of questions, just to be sure you are feeling alright. Will not leave your side for a while and is going to check on you from time to time bringing cookies or something to drink, like water or tea

> "Darlin' stay with me will Ya? Just... want to be with you" He is sweet one, wanting best for his partner, in the romantic way too. He doesn't want you to be missing again when he is being distracted with his work. Hold his hand and kiss him! He wants to be sure you are save dear...

> How he realize he likes you? I imagine he works on some kind of project and suddenly his mind shifts thinking about you. How you make him smile, care for him. This is when it hits him. He likes you.

> At first he will try to see if you feel the same by asking questions and learning about you. If he sees you might have interest in him, he wastes no time and try to start slowly flirt with you.

◇ TF2 Engineer x reader [crush, slightly romantic]

"Go go go!" Socut shouted as you were running back to your base with intelligence on your back. Most of your teammates were on the frontlines, distracting the enemy team to buy you some time. You continued to fun when all of the sudden bullets passed next to you. You turned around, and u noticed BLU Sniper shooting at you. You ran behind the corner. You weren't exactly in condition to fight with him. BLU Team managed to get some lucky shots on you before, and without Medic around, you had only one option. Run. Quickly, you ran through doorframe, hearing Snipers steps behind you. Soon, you felt a knife stabbing you in the leg, making you fall. You looked up to see Sniper, ready to strike. But he stopped. You wondered why, but this is when you noticed a red dot on his chest.

"You shoulda oughta stayed back at your little campsite." Engi pressed the button on his wrangler.

You duck when level 3 sentry shoot it's bullets at Sniper, making him explode into pieces. You tried to stand up, but you couldn't. Your leg was badly damaged. Engi, seeing this, started to walk down the stairs to you.

"Hold on partner! I'm comin'!"

You took intelligence off your back, ready to give it to him. But to your surprise, instead of picking up the intelligence, he picked you up.

"Engi? What are you doing? You need to secure the intelligence -"

"I know, I know, but your health is more important. I can't let you bleed out"

You could argue that HOW the hell did he manage to pick you up, but this is when you realized that - come on, he carries his metal equipment that probably weighs more than you. Engi put you down next to his dispenser, which slowly started to heal you.

"It ain't much, doc knows more about healin' than me, but since he isn't around, I hope it's enough." he smiled at you, gently holding your hand.

"It's more than enough now. Thank you"

Engi giggled as you blushed while looking at his bridge smile. This is when Solider walked out of the respawn room and runed up to you.

"Why is this intelligence not secured in our base yet maggot? You failed your missoon!!!"

"Solider, it's not their fault. They're hurt. You know what, why don't you deliver the intelligence to out base while I help our friend?"

Solider saluted, picked up intelligence, and rushed to the door with a wilde scream. You couldn't help but feel guilty. It was your responsibility, after all, and you failed. Engi sat down next to you and put his hand over your shoulder.

"I know that face"

"What face?" You asked.

"You do that when you are feelin' sad or guilty. Come on, partner. I don't see a reason to be sad. You did your best! You brought that case here alone. I think you did great!"

You smiled a bit, but you still weren't convinced.

"And don't listen to Solider. For him, everyone does everythin' wrong. My point is that you are great. Since you joined our team, I noticed how talented you are, how you strategize things, make great decisions, and use your surroundings. The way you smile, your intelligence... and how you always make that cute face when you chuckle... you are really important and sweet" Engi stopped and looked at your flustered shoked face. This is when he realized that he probably said too much.

"Uh- I uh mean- You are adorable - no. Greta and sweet- fine- cool-" Engi put his helmet over his red face. You couldn't help but chuckle as you lifted it up.

"I think you are adorable too" you said. Engi smiled and took your hand as both of you stared at each other.

"Thank you, I guess I needed to hear that" you said.

This is when Solider run to the room once again.

"Maggot! Where is the intelligence? I saw you bringing it here. I wanted to make sure it's safe!"

You and the Engineer looked at each other, you noticed grin on his face, this is when you picked up your weapon. Solider flinched.

"Oh yea. I put it there in that corner, behind the dispenser" you said.

"Great! I'll take it right back to our base then!" 'Solider' walked past you.

"Huh?- Where is- There is no intelligence in here!-"

When the Soldier turned around, you and the Engineer were pointing your guns at him.

"Just like in your head....Spy." you said.

Spy flinched as his disguise dropped. You and Engi quickly used your weapons and shot him right on the spot.

"Yeeehaa! Take that you snake"

Both of you giggles when Engi got closer to you.

"You know- If you want, you can stay here and help me with Spy and all. I wouldn't mind your company, in fact I enjoy it"

"Sure!" You answered.

This is when he put hand over your cheek.

"I will gladly hear more things about me, from you. Where were we? Ah right, you said I was adorable?"

You blushed and mumbled something. Engi couldn't help but chuckle as he kissed your cheek before coming back to his sentry gun. Your face turned red as you started to talk to him, flustered and a bit surprised.

"Oh? Getting flustered now partner?" He said.

"I- I well- you! Ughhh!!!"

He chukled again, after seeing your reaction. He gently took your hand and sat next to you and continued to talk.

Both of you had a lot of fun today. You enjoyed your time with him, laughing, joking, and flirting. What a day, huh?

Merc aux access

(here are some of my headcanons for what the mercs music tastes could be, probably very inaccurate with the time period they live in)

Scout: has no aux access. Is very PROHIBITED TO BLASTING HIS “shitty white boy music” as others call it. It is not. It is art, TOM JONES IS ART. He has an okay music taste it’s just that it’s all about love n shit and that gets the mercs depressed. A bit of pop but surprisingly (or not) mostly hip hop.

Engie: also has no aux access despite being the one to modify and improve the music player in the base. Would play an overbearing amount of country. At first it was fun but then the country blues came and everyone got depressed again. Will still play country by himself with his guitar tho, if given the chance will do a little performance, then it kindda turns intoo it’s own orchestra since a lot of the boys know how to play instruments, it’s a great time for everyone. Johnny Cash is his god and Dolly is his queen.

Soldier: plays anything American per usual. Despite blasting the anthem one too many times is still allowed to choose music because he can pick some good songs from “Huey Lewis and the News” or “Earth, Wind & Fire”

Medic: absolute maniac, the most unpredictable out of all of em (and that says a lot in a team that has Pyro). Will sometimes go the whole evening having peacefully classical music to help everyone “focus” but then will start blasting heavy metal laughing maniacally. Is the true definition of “I like every genre”

(They are too afraid to take the aux away from him)

Demo: self explanatory, likes anything with accordions and bagpipes. But does genuinely enjoy orchestra music or any songs with strong buildups to big climaxes. Sits there on the edge of his seat waiting for the transition between Beethoven's 5th the 3rd and the to the 4th movement even tho he’s listens to it a million times. Still makes him tear up.

Sniper: not much of a music enthusiast since he’s mostly alone in a very quiet place mumbling to himself all the time, but surprising enjoys jazz when given the opportunity. It’s the only time he really looks like he’s enjoying himself, tapping away, so no one dares to disturb him those moments.

Spy: 60’s French jazz, can probably name 10 artists on top of his head. Says it’s for “culture” and “mission reserch”. Is just a huge nerd for that genre but will never admit it. Yes, Sniper comes to listen and they sit there statically, but don’t let that device you on the inside they are overjoyed.

Heavy: will play classical Russian ball music or even songs from old cartoons and sing along with them not messing up a single lyric. Gets very emotional, knows how to slow dance a bit but is too insecure to try. Engie offered to guide him, tho says Spy would be better since he knows how but Heavy refuses knowing how harsh Spy can be, he can’t handle that much. He don’t wanna look like little baby. Hopes to show Medic his skills when he’s confident enough tho.

Pyro: anything that is upbeat (that can come with repercussions since they have trouble understanding speech so mostly don’t care for the lyrics and we all know that happy sounding doesn’t always have the same meaning lyrically). Also tracks that have clear instrument sounds. Likes to pretend play one of them and can match the beat very easily if they want to tap it out on the table.
