Star Wars SDCC Reaction I am going to go line by line down the defense of this artist and shred him. First, I find it hilarious he thinks the prominence of women, white women needs to be increased but sees no need for POC representation despite acknowledging it lacking in his opening I am not a racist defense. Second, I thought the main point about Rey was she is a random untied to the Skywalker Baggage. Yet the point of this poster is Skywalkers and yet Rey is not a Skywalker and to hear Reylos tell it that is a great thing. Third, I don’t know if he or the art company are racist. I think its pretty hard to argue though that given the treatment the POC have gotten under LF with KK in charge that she is not racist. George Lucas got raked over the coals for racist aliens (fairly if you ask me) that were based on stuff you see an Old Flash Gordon Serials. But at least he had the decency to make them non human looking Aliens doing the physical comic relief. Lando ran city in the 80s was the coolest cat around and took out the 2nd Death Star. Mace Windu was the 2nd highest position in the Jedi Order and took Darth Sidious the distance. Finn cannot beat TR-8R in a duel, first lead to every lose one on one to a nameless stromtrooper throughout history in all Star Wars media. You never saw Mace or Lando drinking from troughs with animals or walking around leaking water from their suits like a damn minstrel show. And George never baited and switched on a marketing campaign, Mace was shown with a lightsaber and was a Jedi unlike Finn. Poe at least got to take down Star Killer Base but boy was the TLJ a letdown as he trades lives without care and suddenly has a problem with female leadership. Lets get into character choice. PT: Palpatine is the main villain thus he should be up top to go with the other main villains. Qui-Gon had like no impact on Anakin, since he basically instantly died before he could really impact Anakin. If its about mentors then it should be Yoda here or Mace. Both had way larger impacts on Anakin falling then Qui-Gon. But mostly it should be fixed in keeping with the character limit by moving Palpatine up top and moving Anakin down to replace Qui-Gon. Also the theme is suppose to be one character per movie so even if I buy these characters choices Qui-Gon should be on the left, Kenobi center, and Padme right. But that doens’t work because and this will come up again who thinks Padme’s best stuff was in III? If it has to be these three characters then it should be Qui-Gon, Padme then Kenobi. Qui-Gon cause he dies in this in I so he has to be there. Padme eh it does have most of the senate stuff and you know she isn’t pathetically dying or enabling Anakin. Kenobi he duels Anakin on Mustafar. Under my system keeping the character limit Padme keeps the middle, Kenobi goes to the left for dueling Maul. Anakin goes to the right for obvious reasons. R2-D2 stays and Palpatine is up top with the Villains. OT: Seems fine really, I mean you could make the case for C-3PO to fit the droid theme. But Yoda does have to go somewhere. The rest are obvious although funny how when they are white the heroic trio all shows up. Although there is a reocurring issue why would anyone pick Episode VI for Han Solo? No Star Wars fan thinks Han got his best material in that movie, heck even Ford doesn’t think that. Honestly, Luke can be any of the movies. Han should definitely be IV or V and Leia should be IV or VI. Seems like these choices were only made to make Leia the center. But even then you put Han on the Left and Luke on the Right. But if it was me, Han is on the left his best stuff is in this movie like the iconic Han shot first. Luke is V this is after all the movie with a certain I am your father scene. Leia in VI this is one where she chokes out Jabba and you know the Resistance finally wins. ST: Luke and Leia mentors. I mean Leia at least mentors Poe mostly offscreen but Han is far more Rey’s mentor then Luke. Luke didn’t teach Rey anything. Not to mention if the goal is representing each movie in the series well Luke and Leia are already doing that for IV and V. No one else is double dipping. Also why is Leia the furthest representing the last movie in IX. I mean I doubt he started before Carrie Fisher sadly passed but Leia is not representing IX that is for sure. Honestly, I do Finn, Poe and Rey left to right since Poe was more plot relevant then Finn in TLJ while Finn was moreso in TFA and Rey can go anywhereas the main lead who again is not a Skywalker. But its not the artist fault that its called the Skywalker Sage when Rey is a Random. After all we all know KK and RJ think Kylo Ren is the main lead and protag anyway. He certainly drives the plot more then Rey.
I am not sure but I am sure Emilia Clarke will be far more important then she has any right to be....by butting into Han and Lando and Han and Chewie...We dont need her but KK.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Solo is set for release in May. Which means Disney’s latest two Star Wars films will be just six months apart, further exhausting the brand to the point where there will soon be nothing special about anything “Star Wars” that they dump into theaters.
Movies like this one are exciting because they give Disney/Lucasfilm/Knnedy the chance to destroy Star Wars’ past the same way they already destroyed Star Wars’ future!
Man, I can’t wait to see if they can retroactively wreck Han Solo’s entire character in his younger years.
You can say that I agree but lets face it what is shown in the movies is not someone who has the top of their class in combat. The books don’t matter, heck I am not even sure RJ watched TFA or the OT. Finn got beat by Rey, got beat by TR-8R and beat Phasma cause she was looking the wrong direction. Beyond that while you could argue he showed impressive skills with blasters in TFA...RJ decided not to have him use a blaster at all in TLJ. So I can’t blame the audience forgetting the impression that he is not great at combat cause the movies have done nothing to dissuade that notion. Plus you know the scenes where he is most competent always seem to end up on the cutting room floor remarkable coincidence that is.
This is not to say racism doesn't play a roll at all.

10 Problems With Finn
As a Finn Fan I cant think of one thing on a list that he got that a Finn fan would want. 1) Force Sensitive? No, Random White Broom Boi gets it. Anyone can have the force isn't it so hopeful. Yeah anyone who is white. 2) Less Comedic Relief? Fuck That Endless Comic Relief 3) Actual Character Development? Hell No lets reset him and repeat. 4) An Arc? Nope nothing he does matters and Rose is Rey but worse now she gives life lessons and she is not the lead. So he is in the B-Plot Now. 5) Can he hang out with Poe? Nope we are killing FinnPoe while Finn and Poe barely interact 6) FinnRey? Not only will they be separated the whole movie while she gets wet over Kylo, they get no fucking lines when they meet each other again 7) Well he was pretty good with a blaster some of that? Nope, he will never use a blaster at all in this movie. So much for commando or hawkeye. 8) A satisfying conclusion to the Phasma fight? Nope no emotional heft between them and he wins due to luck. Books Dont matter 9) Interaction with the Luke or Leia? Hahahaha Hell No. 10) Well shit if you are not going to do anything with him how about a Heroic Death? Hell No, also let me kneecap FinnRey. Also come on Rose sometimes you gotta save the ones you love by killing the people actively trying to kill you. I am sure I could do another 10 but that summarizes Finn pretty well. Not that I wanted a Heroic Death or anything.
THE LAST JEDI Broom Boy
Got to love RJ we meet three orphans being exploited in Canto Bight with similar backstories to Finn want to guess who RJ decides to give the Force out of a White Girl, A White Boy and A Black Boy? The white boy of course as one last fuck you to Finn Fans. Good Old Broom Boy gets the Force but not a fucking lead nah Finn doesn't get shit. Some minor insignificant character is gets to move a broom with no training so really RJ gives Finn fans absolutely nothing of they want and rubs their faces in the dirt about it.

RJ took everything wrong with the Finn Arc from TFA and instead of fixing, he double down on it. More Comic Relief, More of Finn being less capable then a female except this time it isnt Rey the supposed lead instead he gets shown up my a new character, RJ invented just to try to kill FinnRey. Heck she even goes one step further teaches him life lessons like he is fucking child. The only positive is he gets to beat Phasma through Phasma making a mistake. Heck about the only thing Finn had going for him was plot relevance and RJ decides to say fuck that as well. Nothing Finn does matter.
RJ then decides you know fuck TFA showing Poe as a trusted competent resistance leader that Leia trust. Oh and fuck the Poe Comics as well that is not Poe you get here. Now you got Poe the gladstanding showoff carelessly risking lifes who hates taking orders from women. Leia doesnt keep him around because he is competent and trusted and she worked with his parents. No he is kept around because hey he is dumb and sexist but at least he looks hot. Also a reoccurring issue nothing he does matters.
Finn and Poe are bonded by getting fucking tasered for no reason. And being utterly irrelevant. Its like RJ got his ideas about Black People, Latinos and Asians from fucking Stormfront. Blacks are dumb only good for jokes. Latinos are also dumb only good if they are hot. Asians are smart. And they all should be plot irrelevant.
Finn & POE
Oh This is great a real laugh riot.
Finn all comic relief to dumb to think for himself has to be led around by Rose. Only beats Phasma cause she takes her eyes of the ball and he gets sneak attack. And Rose falls in love after opening the movie by tasing him despite knowing he is and that he just got out of surgery. What an Arc.
Poe from highly competent and trusted Ace Pilot. To hotshot sexist dumbass who is only kept around because he looks hot. Attempts a coup for no reason except apparently females shouldn't be in charge and gets slapped and tased by Leia because of it.
Man RJ really fucking loves emasculating Men of Color. Latinos are dumb horny idiots who need strong female leadership and only useful if they are hot. Blacks are only good for comic relief and also need a good woman to get anything done.
No Arcs just getting shit on...Fantastic Stuff. 3 Movies for RJ.
THE LAST JEDI REY RANDOM
Okay did RJ even watch TFA? Lets say I buy Rey is a Random and convinced herself that her parents didn't sell her and were coming back. Why is Unkar feeding into her delusions? He offers to pay a crap ton for BB-8, she is slave why is not just taking BB-8 instead. Also she didn't get sold for massive amounts of credits cause she is strong in the Force? Again why not what makes it seem like Unkar has a heart and cares about anything besides money.
The Last Jedi Reviews
Great stuff basically RJ is lying bitch ass bastard. Finn basically has the same “arc” as last time just with less screen time and less plot relevance cause this time his actions are pointless. What he and Rose do on their adventure makes no difference, the only difference is this time Finn gets to beat Phasma. Poe has an irrelevant mutiny subplot that goes nowhere cause Holdo suicide rams her ship into the Supremacy proving she is good all along. Which changes nothing because it is all pointless as the Resistance is slaughtered until Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia and Rose are the only humans of note that remain. Rose ends in a coma saving Finn, how original RJ. Finn and Poe barely interact at all. But hey at least Poe meets Rey at the end. And guess what it ends with some random black kid (who you meet earlier for like a minute) showing the Force by pulling a Broom apparently. As an extra slap in the face I suppose to anyone who wanted Finn to have the Force. So yeah RJ shunts all the POC into worthless subplots that do not change or impact the plot at all. But basically goes look I am not racist this random black kid has the force who will never see again...wink wink. We get basically no Finn and Poe interaction or Finn, Poe, Rose and Rey interaction at all.
No wonder no one wants to talk about this stuff in the reviews. RJ put less then the bear minimum in this part of the plot. Not only is it a bad subplot nothing they do has any significant impact on the fucking plot. So basically all the diversity they patted them on the back for mostly consists of a fucking smokescreen cause they had to do something with the characters and couldn't fire them all. But dont kid yourself RJ doesn't give one solitary shit about them.
But hey he put the focus on a conflicted white male “bad boy”, had Rey swoon over his abs and character assassinated Luke Skywalker so greatest star wars movie since Empire.
I am happy Carrie Fisher is gone I shudder what they do to Leia. Cant wait for Mark to right a tell all book and no wonder George Lucas didn't grace the red carpet. Disney better have an airtight contract or George Lucas should sue.
Luke Skywalker couldn't kill his own father in duel threw down his lightsaber and was willing to let the Emperor kill him instead. Even though he knew his father was a monster. Heck it isn't restricted to family...Luke gave Jabba The Hut notorious criminal to which he had no Family ties a chance to surrender Han first. But I am suppose to believe Luke Skywalker would draw his Lightsaber to kill his nephew over some Dark Thoughts? You have to be shitting me.

Oh god if the latest spoilers are true. I am beyond disgusted. I simply do not see how RJ got a trilogy off this shit. Well I do KK only ever gave a fuck about Kylo Ren and Adam Driver. So Fuck Feminism and Fuck Diversity.
The Latest and Greatest Hits
1) Luke sees the Darkness in Kylo caused by Snoke and tries to kill him with a lightsaber. Luke Skywalker the man who tried to save his father. Who threw down his own lightsaber to try to save his Evil Father from the Dark Side rather then strike him down. Decides to attempt to murder a defenseless child to save the Galaxy. How the fuck is this not character assassination of the highest order? No wonder Mark hated shit. George Lucas should sue.
2) Shirtless Kylo scene where Rey blushes and tells Kylo to put his shirt on you heard that right the supposed main lead and heroine getting wet over then man who killed her supposed Mentor/his father, maimed her best friend, tried to break into her mind and tossed her into a tree along with being a high ranking fascist regime member who aided genocide and civilian slaughter....this is truly a nightmare and a Reylo and Alt Righters wet dream.

There was no way it wasn’t going to be Luke’s Fault. However, my problem is Luke failed twice. It his fault that Kylo goes dark to some extent which I can accept to a degree but I cannot accept that on top of that Luke does nothing to clean up the mess. He goes off to a random planet and sits around doing zilch while Kylo and Snoke rekt face. The same Snoke that goes down to Kylo fresh off a loss to an untrained Rey and Rey who has lets be generous? How much time do you think Rey has known she has the Force, 3 weeks assuming some time skips?
So an Akira style ending doesn't do shit for me to redeem Luke because really Luke should have been more then powerful to mop up Snoke and Kylo himself. He is only 50 or so Mace was about the same age when he threw down with Palpatine so don't give me he was too old like Kenobi and Yoda. Yoda also at least tried against Palpatine before running for the hills and Kenobi thought he had finished Anakin. Instead, we have zero indication that Luke tried to stop Kyo and Snoke at all until he goes godlike at the end. Which doesnt make up for what 5 plus years of not doing shit...
And thus there is no hope the Last Skywalker has killed not just 2/3rds of his family but the entire dream of a New Republic and New Jedi Order as well. And you know what is worse? A large swath of the fandom will still want him to get redeemed (Not Vader), a full on happy ending making super force babies with Rey.
I feel bad for George Lucas quite frankly. They are even retconning the Chosen One Prophecy and making fundamental changes to the Force. Who the fuck do KK a supposed friend of George and RJ think they are?
So basically: The Force Awakens was "Han's movie" and he died. The Last Jedi is Luke's movie and apparently he dies. Episode IX would be Leia's movie and she would be die?

George’s original idea, as I have read, was that Luke, Han and Leia would be supporting the main players, who were their kids. (or at least Han and Leia’s - I’m not sure I’ve read what Luke was doing in all this but….)
Then JJ arrived, threw out pretty much everything, and decided that Luke, Han and Leia should get a “fitting sendoff.”
Now, if you can explain to me how breaking up Han and Leia’s marriage, making their only child a Dark Sider, destroying Luke’s school and sending him off to be a hermit, then killing Han for nothing is a “fitting sendoff” then I think you should write Episode 9.
Because, yes, it looks now that Han dies in 8 for no damn good reason at all other than it’s the third act of a New Hope reboot and he’s oldest male lead so he goes down (or he’s “sexy luggage” according to JJ.). Because, and I stg I read this from some fan review, “Han and Leia should be crucified because of Kylo.”
Yeah, so, there’s that.
I guess Luke will be blamed for Kylo - Mark is quoted in this week’s print Entertainment Weekly that there will be flashbacks and that the movie deals with the fallout of Luke thinking Kylo is the Chosen One. Which why tf Luke would even know the prophecy or care or NOT THINK IT’S HIS DAD when I’m sure Obi Wan would have told him is beyond me.
I would hope that Leia would have gotten a kinder fate in 9, but considering murder by your own child after your life is destroyed is called a “fitting sendoff” then I doubt it.
I don’t know, Anon. I mean, okay, they could have killed Luke, Han and Leia. I would not have been surprised.
But they could have left them together. Have them go out together, taking on the First Order so that Rey and Finn and Poe could win the day.
What if Luke does live till 9? What’s he got? Han’s dead, Leia’s dead, his whole life in ruins…yeah.

Honestly seems like we are getting Twilight Fan Fiction. Yeah sure Kylo may have saved Rey when they took out Snoke but considering Kylo only did that for a power grab that doesn't scream redemption to me. Especially if Kylo wanted redemption all he has to do after killing Snoke is immediately change First Order Policies by freeing child soldiers, dismantling super weapons, etc. But they are the two main hetero white characters so of course they should bang. This type of romance plot only works if A) the bad boy isn't actually the monster everyone says he is or B) the character at least had a relationship in the past before one of turned into a monster. It does not work when said girl meets said guy after knowing he is monster and seeing him kill his father/her mentor in cold blood and almost kill her supposed Best Friend.
Honestly this all boils down to the problem with Rey Random. Ignore her unique raw force power. Rey has no connection to the plot if BB-8 didn't just will of the force its way right into her. She is not resistance/rebellion, she is not first order/empire, she is not related to anyone important or has any reason to care about getting involved in the plot except being Super Powerful in the Force for reasons. She is anchorless and totally unconnected her only connection is being the lead. Han is Dead. Luke is Dead and because of the sad passing of Fisher, she wont be around as Leia. So we have if the spoilers are true, the cast of Rey, Finn, Rose, Poe, Chewie, the Droids and maybe a few extras all fleeing on the Falcon with the rest of the Resistance Obliterated and Kylo ruling the galaxy. Now besides Rey who apparently has the hots for Kylo why would the rest of the characters with everyone they know dead give one **** about saving Kylo’s soul. It doesn't logically compute. Ergo the tension is massively undercut either Rey is the worst heroine I have ever seen where she is conflicted as the New Empire oppress the galaxy and picks off her supposed friends or she commits to killing Kylo pissed that he tricked her. Kylo v Rey is just not compelling like Vader v Luke or Kenobi v Anakin because their connection is finding each other attractive for like a week and being super special force unicorns.
Its like RJ basically ignored TFA for the most part and just used it as rough outlines for character backgrounds. But even saying that I could easily throw in a few retcons that give Rey Random a reason to care about Kylo beyond he is “hot“ and saved me once and I hate Reylo. Just have Rey be a fellow student at the Jedi Academy that Kylo was close to and thus when he turned couldn't bring himself to kill. So he paid some fake parents to dump her on a backwater and somehow wiped her memory or maybe she suffered some memory loss from injuries during the attack. It even fits in with TFA lines like “What Girl“ and “It is You“ that are unexplained. There still Rey Random and gave her a decent reason to care about Kylo and feel some conflict.
People who don’t get how Rey being the daughter of two junk dealers who abandoned her for money and who thus most likely won’t play any role in the future is unsatisfying writing haven’t understood a single thing about how you construct a plot. The way this was built up Rey random is only satisfying IF her parents are relevant to the plot, even as new characters. Otherwise there was literally no point keeping this a secret, bc it leaves us exactly with what we know from TFA. It adds nothing. Rey already saw herself as noone and figured out whoever left her on Jakku won’t be coming back. Furthermore: If you come up with the idea to construct a character with a unique raw Force power, and decide this character’s power will match the power of Darth Vader’s grandson, there must be a reason for it in the plot. You can’t just go “well, this is just how it is, it’s coincidence” This is unsatisfying and like someone didn’t even try. It’s lazy.

That Star Wars Trailer....if all you care about is Reylo, you walked out extremely happy. If you care about Finn, Poe or Luke well prepare yourself to be extremely disappointed.
